The storefront is a traditional 1930s-1940s storefront–simple, traditional and compact, not one of those fritzy, chic Dean and Deluca operations. This bakery is an institution to over three generations of our family. My grandparents would always buy bialys and an assortment box of cookies when we came to visit. I have extremely fond (and tasty) memories of fighting with my cousins over the rainbow cookies and a bialy smothered with lox and onions. There is nothing better than Leon’s.
