Place Matters Profile
This is the first library opened in the Brooklyn Public Library System. It opened in 1897 in the former P.S. 3, a schoolhouse in a cornfield. After two other locations, it moved to its present 1905 Carnegie building. Today it is located across the street from the P.S. 3, and is host to many class trips as well as general community use.

This was the first library in Brooklyn. There is a school across the street which makes it convenient for the kids. When they remodel, it will really be hooked up. They need more space, but they will remodel eventually. From the outside, the clean architecture gives it distinction as a library.
Dolores Lindsay
The Bedford Branch is the oldest library in Brooklyn. Its location is very good since it is near public transportation and right across the street from PS 3. It is utilized by the teachers for class trips. The rooms downstairs are good for community meetings and shows, though the library needs renovation and more space.
