Our drama residencies feature artists with expertise in acting, directing, playwriting, spoken word performance, and puppetry. We also specialize in non-Western theater, such as Chinese opera and Indian classical dance forms. This residency develops students’ abilities to make theater, as well as their skills and vocabulary to analyze and respond to the performing arts. Learning takes place beyond the classroom through field trips or visits by special guests. Student-produced plays have encompassed such topics as bullying in schools, the role of Native Americans in building New York’s skyscrapers, and the Mexican Revolution.
