Bea Lurie (Midwood Park Association)

On each of these corners there is a stanchion (two per block) that was part of a gated entry point to the early 20th century Midwood Park neighborhood. At these stanchions were posted guards who would announce visitors. One look down the block puts you back to a point in time when Brooklyn was the suburbs. You’ll see stately trees that are just shy of 100 years old and single family, three story wood framed detached homes with wrap around porches that look like they belong in the South.
