Morris Park Avenue is a longtime Italian neighborhood known for is baked goods and sweets. Conti’s opened in 1921 and is one of the oldest bakeries in the neighborhood. It was originally Conti and Son’s Bakery. The owner was from Parma, Italy. His son took over for a awhile and then sold the business about eight years ago. The shop is known for the Boston crème pie as well as the many traditional Italian pastries which are all made on the premises. The current owner uses all the original recipes that were used by Conti. The interior retains many of its old features, including the soda dispensers and soda bar which as added in the 1930s. The bakery was the location for the movie The Doughboys (2008).

Conti’s Bakery has the best strawberry pie in the world. Regis Philbin grew up near it and remembers it fondly because he featured it on his show.
