Michele Moschides

This is a vintage terminal market, from the early to mid twentieth century, with original buildings on site. This is a clear cultural resource serving a large area of Brooklyn for decades.

We have no other large markets like this, especially in Brooklyn. We are losing open spaces and cultural resources rapidly with over development. I hope this market survives. If the market were demolished, I would miss the wide open space and the vintage buildings, some with original windows and doors and the sense of place that I feel when I go there. I have very early memories of this market from over thirty years ago. (May 2007)
