Waterfront Heroes Community Day & OPENING

October 14, 2018 @ 1:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Waterfront Heroes Community Day

Waterfront Heroes Community Day

Art Space @ Staten Island Arts

7 Navy Pier Ct, Staten Island, NY 10304

Beginning at 1:30 PM

They say that not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes they wear waders, wool caps, and rubber raincoats, boat shoes, sunglasses, or life jackets.  The Waterfront

Heroes exhibit  pays homage to the unsung champions of New York harbor:  women and men who help to sustain our working waterfronts, restore historic vessels and other objects destined for the junkyard. They carry on the occupational culture of our waterways so that future generations can learn of

New York’s crucial maritime heritage.

Ten Heroes are profiled including Waterfront Barge founder David Sharps, steam whistle collector Conrad Milster, the South Shore Bay House Owners Association, and the North Oyster Bay Baymen’s Association.
