Let the traditions and cultures of New York City inspire your next event. The City Lore Gallery is a storefront gallery space with beautiful hardwood floors, a floor-to-ceiling glass entrance, and art-bedecked walls. At 600 square feet, the space holds 50 people seated and 74 for standing receptions. Located at 56 East 1st Street on the historic Lower East Side, City Lore is steps from the F train 2nd Ave station and an easy walk from SoHo, NoLita, and the 6 train at Bleecker St. The space is ideal for classes, performances, small music concerts, exhibits, lectures, panel discussions, and pop-ups. $200 refundable deposit requred. 4-hour minimum (includes set-up and break-down).

Rules

Length of Use

Rental time includes set-up and break-down. Space must be cleaned and vacated by the end of the rental period. Check that no personal belongings have been left behind. We are not responsible for any personal belongings left on the premises. No prior drop-off and/or pick-up of equipment, props, etc. unless negotiated at time of booking request.

Housekeeping

Renter is responsible for the set-up and break-down of the space used during the event.  Each renter assumes responsibility for returning the space to its original state before they leave. This includes folding and stacking chairs and tables and placing them at a designated location, sweeping, picking up debris, cleaning all spills, cleaning kitchen counters and appliances (if used), bathrooms, bagging of all garbage and recycling. If the space is not cleaned, left as it was upon arrival, the deposit will not be refunded. Renter may elect for City Lore to assist in cleaning up the space for an additional fee of $120.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in the space or on the street in front of neighboring property.  

Liability

Renter is liable for damage to the space and any property in the space.  Renter is required to have their own insurance for their event that lists City Lore as an Additional Insured.

A City Lore representative will be on the premises to supervise the space.
