“Make Music Your Profession” with Grammy Award Winner Arturo O’Farrill

June 27 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Musicians for Musicians and The Brooklyn Music School present live music and Q&A featuring Five-Time-Grammy Award Winner Arturo O’Farrill. Speaking with Jeff Newell, Chairman of the BMS Jazz Department, this dedicated music professional will discuss his illustrious career, how he has seen the music profession change, and the musician’s place in contemporary society. As a musician, the son of a famous musician, and father to young musicians; Mr. O’Farrill’s perspective is of interest to music professionals, aspiring young musicians, and anyone with an interest in the arts and their role in today’s world.

Proceeds will go to Musicians For Musicians, an organization that seeks to empower musicians to realize the true value of their work to raise their standard of living and provide adequate working conditions–a mission that City Lore supports. As a member of the MFM Board of Directors, Aturo O’Farrill says: “Musicians for Musicians is exactly on time, advocacy by a group that has no interest in profit for itself but only for its members is long overdue. Musicians are highly trained professionals and should be treated as such.”
