Bronx Rising!–Before Hip Hop There Was Doo Wop: A Tribute to the Musical Legacy of Morris High School

October 18 @ 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

| Free, $5 suggested donation

Many doo wop groups came from the Morrisania neighborhood including the Chords, the Crickets, the Wrens, the Mellows and the Chantels.  The Chords, who recorded the song, “Sh-Boom,” went to Morris High School.  To honor the school’s unique musical legacy we’ll present doo wop music opened with poetry by Nuyorican poetry legend, Jesús “Papoleto” Meléndez, who also attended the school.
