Leo Schaff | Song Writer
My name is Leo Schaff and I am an Actor, Singer, Songwriter, Guitar player, Shakespearean and long-time Teaching Artist who has done many a City Lore songwriting residency, collaborated with classes to create classic songs profiling outstanding members of the community, as well as songs that celebrate the community itself. Examples include: “Hey Luz!” “Jovita”, “Who Lives Here?”, “Ms. Bailey”, “Ms. Noyola”, “Monica”, “Woodside”, to name a few. I am the Co-writer of “Give Us Hope”, the international children’s choir standard which was performed at President Obama’s First Inauguration. I have been named “New Yorker of The Week” byTime-Warner Cable TV’s NY1 for my ongoing series of Shakespeare classes at senior centers around the city, and at the 92nd Street Y, where I will be teaching/acting-out Hamlet this fall. I have also created and performed my own one-man song/spoken-word performances, “Found” and “Won”. I have worked with populations of all ages, from many nations, in many states of mind, and am forever amazed at the talent to be tapped in one and all!
