Steelbands are a musical tradition born out of the Carribean and carried across the waters to inject us New Yorkers with a breath of fresh ocean breeze and island life. Pan Yards are practice areas found outside and with few to zero neighbors to complain about the noise. Embark on any one of these steelband adventures posted in our calendar and you will find yourself lost in unadulterated music and surrounded by a beautiful, vibrant cultural tradition.
Events include:
Ultimate Band vs Band, Basketball, 3-Legged Race, Egg & Spoon, Apple-bobbing, Sack Race, Hot-dog Eating Contest and more…. Food and drinks will be available. All are invited to come out and “rep” their bands!
Bands are asked to RSVP so that everyone may be accommodated.
